Signal Processing and Computing for Communications Technical Committee (SPCC)
Minutes of Technical Committee Meeting at ICC 2023, held by video conference.
May 10, 2023
- Introductions – The TC meeting was started at 9:30 AM EST. The SPCC Chair Prof. Jingxian Wu introduced the agenda of the meeting and welcomed all SPCC members to the meeting. Instructions to maintain the meeting through the Zoom tool were provided.
- Minutes of GLOBECOM 2022 – The minutes of GLOBECOM 2022 SPCC TC meeting were approved.
- SPCC Scope, Objectives, Organization Structure, and TC Recertification – The Charter and objectives of the TC, structure and P&Ps were presented. Current and past officers were introduced as well. Moreover, SPCC-TC has been successfully recertified for 2023-2024 with very positive feedbacks.
- Technical Program Committee Reports
- WC Symposium – GLOBECOM 2022: Co-chairs for the symposium include Sami Muhaidat (Khalifa University), who was recommended by SPCC. The number of submissions was 336 and the number of accepted papers was 134, with an acceptance rate of 40%. There were 27 sessions.
- SPC Symposium – GLOBECOM 2022: Co-chairs for the symposium include Nan Zhao (Dalian Univeristy of Technology), who was recommended by SPCC. The number of submissions was 176 and the number of accepted papers was 70, with an acceptance rate of 39.8%. There were 18 sessions.
- SPC Symposium – ICC 2023: Co-chairs for the symposium include Junqing Zhang (University of Liverpool), who was recommended by SPCC. The number of submissions was 119 and the number of accepted papers was 49, with an acceptance rate of 41.2%. There were 6 oral sessions and 5 interactive sessions.
- WC Symposium – ICC 2023: Co-chairs for the symposium include Arsenia Chorti (ENSEA) and Mingyue Ji (University of Utah), who were recommended by SPCC. The number of submissions was 320 and the number of accepted papers was 126, with an acceptance rate of 39%. There were 17 oral sessions and 9 interactive sessions.
- SPC Symposium – GLOBECOM 2023: Co-chairs for the symposium include Lingjia Liu (Virginia Tech) and Fang Fang (Western University), who were recommended by SPCC.
- CT Symposium – GLOBECOM 2023: Co-chairs for the symposium include Yuanwei Liu (Queen Mary University of London), who was recommended by SPCC.
- SPC Symposium – ICC 2024: Co-chairs for the symposium include Yanjun Pan (University of Arkansas), who was recommended by SPCC.
- WC Symposium – ICC 2024: Co-chairs for the symposium include Gaojie Chen (University of Surrey), who was recommended by SPCC.
- CT Symposium – ICC 2024: Co-chairs for the symposium include Francisco Javier Lopez-Martinez (University of Granada), who was recommended by SPCC.

The following three SPCC awards are introduced:
- SPCC Outstanding Service Award (For outstanding contribution to the technical activities sponsored and endorsed by the SPCC technical committee)
- SPCC Technical Recognition Award (For outstanding contribution to the area of signal processing for communications)
- SPCC Best Paper Award (Recognize the outstanding contributions of one paper in the technical areas that are of interests to SPCC)
- SPCC Early Achievement Award (Recognizes members of SPCC who have achieved early career visibility through research and service to the SPCC community)
- Other Business
Next SPCC meeting will be on-site held during GLOBECOM 2023.
